QuickBooks Online Accountant is Transitioning to Intuit Accountant Suite. Intuit will officially discontinue QuickBooks Online Accountant on December 31, 2026, replacing it with Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS). The free Core tier retains QBOA functionality while adding centralized client management, team permissions, dashboards, tax workflows, and new AI capabilities. QuickBooks Online Advanced is Moving Significantly Up-Market. Intuit is positioning Advanced as an intelligent financial platform for companies that need more than conventional small-business bookkeeping but are not yet ready for a full ERP. New 2026 capabilities include Books Upkeep, Bill Pay Elite, enhanced KPI scorecards, business-intelligence reporting, conversational forecasting, and industry-specific functionality. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Remains in the Lineup—But Now Has a Clearer Upgrade Path. Desktop Enterprise continues to be supported and marketed for businesses needing strong inventory, order management, pricing, job costing, reporting, payroll, and related desktop functionality. For clients that add entities, services, automation requirements, or more sophisticated reporting needs, Intuit is now explicitly positioning Intuit Enterprise Suite as the next level and providing migration tools from Desktop Enterprise. Industry-Specific Solutions are Becoming Much More Important in the QuickBooks Lineup. Intuit is building deeper workflows for industries such as construction, manufacturing, nonprofit, professional services, and other project-based businesses. QuickBooks Online Advanced addresses growing businesses, while Intuit Enterprise Suite extends industry functionality into more complex multi-entity environments. Intuit Accountant Suite is becoming the CPA firm’s Operating Platform—not simply a QBOA replacement. IAS adds cross-client portfolio views, automated onboarding and workflows, Books Close, client communications, anomaly detection, Client Insights, and the ability to work across multiple client files. Intuit Intelligence is becoming the Common AI Layer Throughout QuickBooks. The new Intuit Intelligence experience combines AI and business intelligence with live accounting, payroll, and payments data. The ProAdvisor Program is Evolving into Intuit ProPartner Accountants. The existing ProAdvisor program remains in place through 2026 but is scheduled to be succeeded in early 2027 by ProPartner Accountants. The new program is more firm-focused, with tiers based on certifications, connected clients, and broader adoption of the Intuit ecosystem; benefits include expanded support, education, community programs, and a new three-year revenue-share opportunity. Intuit Enterprise Suite Creates a New ERP Tier Above Traditional QuickBooks. Intuit Enterprise Suite (IES) is a separate, cloud-based, AI-native ERP rather than simply a cloud edition of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. It targets larger and more complex organizations requiring multi-entity accounting, consolidation, intercompany processing, stronger controls, advanced reporting, and greater scale.
